This is a incredibly detailed Thorectichthys rhadinus from the Upper Cretaceous of Agoult, Morocco. Thorectichthys rhadinus is a member of the Order Ellimmichthyiformes, Family Paraclupeidae.
Thorectichthys rhadinus (from “rhadinos” meaning slender, tapering or lithe) is one of two recently described paraclupeid fishes (Murray & Wilson) from the Cenomanian/Turonian stages of the Upper Cretaceous.
The Paraclupeidae had a very deep body with pronounced abdominal region.
The Paraclupeidae (Ellimmichthyidae) are an extinct fish family, with the herring-like (Clupeiformes) being found from the Lower Cretaceous to Middle Eocene (125 - 50.3 mya). The Paraclupeidae are found in both salt and freshwater.
The other fish associated with this fossil assembledge is T. marocensis
These fish are often mistaken for Saterichthys sp. and Triplomystus sp.
